On Wednesday June 27th meeting in IIT council meeting IIT directors reached on a compromise agreement to hold the common exam. As per compromised agreement, to be eligible for admission to IITs, one will have to have a minimum of 80 percentile marks it means student should be in the top 20 percent of the students in the board. The marks will be different for each board.

After IIT council meet, a meeting was called to discuss operational issues arising out of the decision by the IIT Council. 20 of 29 board chairpersons attended this meeting and supported the proposed pattern. All the boards decided to declare their results before June 10 and will complete the revaluation work within June 30 of the year to ensure that new format works smoothly. In this meeting, it was decided that the equivalent percentage of marks for top 20 percentile students would be available (within 7 to 10 days) to students so that they are able to know the percentage of marks that will make them eligible for IIT Entrance.

Till now reportedly marks are 70% for Rajasthan board, 78% for Tamilnadu Board, 78% for CBSE board and 60% for UP board, but final announcement is still pending.
