IIT Kanpur accepts new JEE temporarily, wants 60% eligibility marks for 2012 pass out
Earlier IIT Kanpur rejected the common entrance format and announced to conduct its own entrance exam, but toady in senate meeting IIT Kanpur accepted new modified JEE pattern keeping in view the urgent need to remove uncertainties from the minds of students.
The senate decided that students who have passed out their board exam in 2012 should not be disturbed with the new format and allowed to appear as per the existing eligibility condition in 2013 also. As per the existing criteria, students are given two chances to clear the IIT-JEE.
- The recommendations of IIT Kanpur senate can be summarized as follows:
- The eligibility criteria for 2012 pass out students will remain same (60% for general and 55% for SC/ST)
- The IIT Kanpur senate accepted new JEE pattern temporarily for 2013 only, for JEE 2014 and beyond a senate committee be constituted that will study all aspects of the admission process. Number of students to be short listed for IIT JEE 2013 should be based on the available data and the nature of the advanced paper. ”For instance if the advanced paper was theoretical based then it will not be practical to filter 1.5 lakh students,” says an IIT Kanpur professor.
