IIT-M to help the country cope with growing petrol prices, setting up a research facility to raise fuel efficiency
Reportedly IIT Madras is setting up a research facility in house to increase the fuel efficiency of motor vehicles, and 50 Crore rupees will be spent to setup the center for fuel combustion in the institute.
“Cars run with engine, power plants have turbines and rockets also have engine. So, if we can improve combustion at least by five per cent, we will gain a lot. So, this centre will work to achieve more in the field of fuel and combustion” Said DC, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi , Director IIT Madras.
Apparently to increase the research in the institute IIT Madras has appointed over 100 new faculty taking the total number of faculty to 475 and is planning to increase it to 600 in next five years.
