Implementation of new JEE in 2013 is not practical- IIT Bombay, final decision by end of June

While IIT Bombay senate final decision on ‘JEE’ format proposed by MHRD is still pending, IIT Bombay senate has appointed a subcommitee to analyse the new common entrance format, Reportedly the report of IIT Bombay subcommittee, appointed by IIT Bombay senate has already concluded that it is not practical to implement new pattern from 2013. The committee also rejected the Ministry’s proposal to give at least 40 percent weight age to board exams.

Chairman of IIT Bombay alumni association (IITBAA), Shrishar Shukla has also announced “IITBAA does not support the HRD Ministry proposal as it stands today” . IITBAA has started an online poll on the new test format for alumni, faculty members and students, to know whether respondents “have more of a problem with the solutions proposed (JEE changes) or with the process followed in getting there (bypassing the Senate, IIT act and statues)” and if IIT Bombay should go the IIT Kanpur way and conduct its own examination.”

Since it is vacation time, IIT Bombay senate will announce their final decision by the end of june , when the senate will meet to discuss the sub-committee report.
