Parliament passes IIT bill and NIT bill, finally IIT status to IT-BHU and eight new IIT’s

Earlier IT-BHU students wrote to kapil sibal on the delay that Rajysabha is making to  give approval to make an amendment in the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which will change IT-BHU to IIT apart from adding eight new IITs in Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Mandi, Patna and Ropar, and here comes a great news to all the students passing their final year exams in IT-BHU and other new IIT’s , finally parliament has passed IIT bill giving IIT status to all these institutes.

Reportedly , Rajya sabha has passed both the Institute of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010, along with the National Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010 through a voice vote. The National Institutes of Technology bill amends the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007, to add a schedule of five Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), established in Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal and Thiruvananthapuram.

Now all the new IIT’s can issue degree to the students passing their final exam this year.
