Nationwide implementation of ISEET to be discussed at the State Minister conference on 22 feb

Earlier IIT council has approved the implementation of ISEET from 2013  and while the exact modalities of implementing Indian Science engineering entrence test are still being discussed by by the Joint Admission Board, reportedly a conference is being schedule on 22 feb by Ministry of Human Resources Development under the leadership of Kapil Sibal to discuss the nation wide implementation of ISEET as  entrance test for the admission into the 15 Lakh Engineering colleges in the country.

Though earlier it was announced that ISEET in 2013 will be implemented for only centrally funded Educational institutions , which include 15 IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), 30 NITs (National Institutes of Technology), 4 IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research), the early call for a conference of State Education Ministers signifies how hard  Minister of Human Resources and Development , Mr. Kapil Sibal is pushing for a nation wide implementation of the examination.

IIT Council approves ISEET as entrance test for IIT admission

Reportedly IIT Council has approved T.Ramasami committee’s recommendation on implementing a common entrance test for engineering colleges in the country,  it is proposed to conduct a single test that can be called as INDIAN SCIENCE-ENGINEERING ELIGIBILITY TEST 2013 (ISEET 2013, in short).

The ISEET 2013 will have two parts, namely, ISEET–Main and ISEET-Advance. Each examination will be of three hour duration and will be held on one single day. The examination ISEET shall be conducted on April or May, 2013. The ISEET Main will be conducted from 1000 Hours till 1200 Hours. The ISEET Advance will be conducted from 1400 Hours till 1700 Hours.

IIT council has met yesterday to discuss about modalities of ISEET, though it is suggested that  CBSE may conduct ISEET-2013, while an ‘academic group’ will oversee the entire test guided by the director of IIT-Kanpur.
The process of transferring school board results data to ISEET will be worked out, a source said.

Not less than 40% weightage to be given for 12th board for ISEET 2013

Reportedly in a news that is for sure a big shock to students preparing for IIT JEE at coaching center’s in Kota and Hyderabad, who joined dummy schools just for the formality , Ministry of Human Resources Development has announced that it has accepted T.Ramasami’s recommendation where in not less than 40% weightage will be given for admission into IIT’s.

The formal announcement on implementation of ISEET from academic year 2013 is yet to come, but Government is going to face problems in implementing normalization for all the different state boards and CBSE.

Though as planned earlier Common Engineering Test will not be implemented for all the 15 Lakh Engineering colleges but only the central funded institutions, i.e, 15 IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), 30 NITs (National Institutes of Technology), 4 IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) are considered for the first year of ISEET implementation in 2013.
