IGDTUW, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women also known as Indira Gandhi Institute of technology (IGIT) formerly Mahila Institute of Technology is the first engineering college for women in Delhi, India. It came into existence in 1998. The objective of this college was to promote technical education among the female students in the country.

IGDTUW is the first constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, the first state university of Delhi focusing on professional studies.

IGDTUW has four branches of engineering, namely Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering and Information and Technology Engineering

The Training and Placement Cell is the back bone of any institute. In IGIT, it was established in the year of 2001. Present working team, under the sincere guidance of our honorable Principal, Dr. (Mrs) Nupur Prakash is committed to provide the best career opportunities for IGIT students.

The cell comprises of highly energetic and dynamic faculty members, Dr. A.K. Mohapatra, T&P Coordinator for CSE & IT, Mr. Pankaj Gupta, T&P Coordinator for ECE and Mr. Ajay Singholi, T&P Coordinator for MAE along with the students from each department.

IGIT is ranked third after DTU (DCE) & NSIT in Delhi region. IGIT is inviting more and more companies every year and its growth is increasing at a rapid pace. T&P Cell has managed to achieve 100% placements for the Batch 2010-2011, and the placements for the next batch 2011-2012 is in progress.

The team is consistently striving to enhance the quality education and placements at the institution. Various seminars are being organized on regular basis for the student’s development to increase their communication skills and to improve their personality. The T&P Cell provides various opportunities to the young minds to work and develop themselves under the intense industrial environment, by imparting them in-house as well as industrial trainings.

Facilities at IGDTUW

Hostels:

The Hostel especially in University plays a very significant role in pursuing academic, cultural and creational activities. Hostel is a home to young girls who are passionate about their desires and aspire to reach beyond the horizons. The hostel provides a safe, secure and clean environment for the girls to grow, learn and mature up in the society away from their own homes. The hostel caters to the needs of young ladies turning into mature responsible adults. It provides an atmosphere for girls to study, do well in their academics and focus on their career and future.

East & West Hostel for women capacity of Approx. 300 students.

Learning Resource Centre:

Learning Resource Centre (LRC) serves as the premier source of academic information for the IGIT community through its collections, educational and consulting services. The LRC has a highly selective collection of print, electronic, and audiovisual materials in the areas of science, engineering, technology and management to support the learning and research activities of students and faculty. A number of e- journals are being subscribed through consortia mode subscription. All these journals are available online to the member of the LRC in campus LAN. The Digital Library section has e-materials like CDs, DVDs and digital thesis of final year students

XEBEC


“Xebec” refers to a ship sailing through the Mediterranean. It is symbolic of the zeal and enthusiasm of the students, striving towards excellence in their field. The three day festival saw huge participation of students from 43 institutes and universities of Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon in technical, non-technical and green events.

 

IMPULSE


IMPULSE,’11, a technical festival organized by the IEEE IGIT Student Branch was celebrated during 24th -26th March’11 with “Technopreneurship” as a theme, under the guidance of branch mentor- Mr. Akash Tayal, Asst. Prof. and branch counselor Prof. S.B. Jain.

TREMORS


The annual fest of CSI-IGIT, Tremors11.0, was inaugurated on 24th of March 2011. It was a three day long celebration, which comprised of a multitude of technical, non-technical and fun events. The theme of the fest was “Emotion driven Innovation” and the thematic “Emovation” received tremendous participation and many innovative ideas were presented.
